Summer - seems s o long ago now...

Nolan and an "older woman" - at the park w/ Maya and Zoe
The "use Mom's hand to do something for me" gambit at Red Willow waterpark
Maya and Nolan at the "Wollie" slide, a very hot July day
Boys plotting in the park
Nolan, "Yaccum" - Malcolm - and the impromptu park party
Nolan and Grandma in the airport- he loved the visit

Before I get to the lake pics, here are some July- August ones....looking at them makes me remember how darn HOT it was and how much I was wishing for air conditioning- now the furnace is on. Maya and Zoe are the dark haired girls (Maya is straight haired, Zoebug is curly, and the cluster of boys is the neighborhood gang- a fine bunch of young men, the youngest is 4 so although Nolan is big, he looks up to them ar least figuratively! The adults on the park lawn are holding coffee cups...don't be silly, there's no ice cold beer or chilled wine in the cups.....

Birthday piano and chocolatemania

I'll be adding some photos as well. I must say Nolans age (on the cusp of 3) is interesting because he's maturing in many little ways- still very toddler, but there are glimmers of what it may be like next year. Mike took off right after I got home (birthday yesterday- meh), and then phoned me. I could hear loud piano notes in the background and loud happy chattering from Nolan, who was providing the concert. I had put a Costco flyer coupon out to remind myself to go look at this clavinova and M decided that would be the present- we have been talking about getting one for a year, really. Nolan apparently was very good in Costco - held Mike's hand, didn't run wild- but seemed tired.

I was a little nervous when we went to Wild Tangerine for supper, tired boy and restaurants haven't been a great combo in the past, but he sat in his chair and ate his anise dusted fries with homemade ketchup (was a little worried about that, but he didn't seem to mind) and some of my bison short ribs-sushi rice. He did go to the bathroom twice to wash his hands and sit on (not pee on) the toilet, and politely said thanks and bye as we left. Hr got very interested in my colourful fancy drink- a "Wild Vespa" with campari, gin and mango passionfruit- and I had to drink it fairly quickly (oh my) and fill the glass with his juice so he could have a "taste". Easily the best dining experience we've had with him along (usualy we take turns running after him....)

Other observations-
- loves to act out little dramas and plots with toys- and people- getting roles, often involvng rescuing animals, going to mars, superheroes going to the tower of power....(Diego, Backyardigans, various books are the inspiration).

- will sit and look at books for fairly long stretches, also likes drawing shapes but prefers my pens and highlighters to his washable markers and twist up crayons

- seems to have outgrown all of his pants -leg length- in the last three weeks- gotta get him measured, when I carry him up the stairs his feet bash into my knees and shins....

- continues to love chocolate to a degree that is a bit impairing- if it is in the house he may not eat anything else. Occasionally I have been forced to concede that a Nutella sandwich might be food, otherwise he just won't eat and then he doesn't sleep well, although mostly I try to distract him and slip something healthier in to his bowl or plate.

Will download and post photos soon-
