Tea Party with Goof Noodle

Mom and Dad and Rose (Oma-Opa, and Grandma) are here. Rose has been already for a few days and the folks arrived last night. Nolan was hyperexcited at the visiting and compellingly inventive in his plotting to stay awake longer. At 9pm, he joined Mom and Rose on the porch- they were having tea, so he ran in to get his small mug (his baby coffee mug) to get baby tea. Wanting to see what he was going to do (I do this far too often) I poured warm water over a peach tea bag in his cup, which he swished a bit, took out, and then insisted I carry it out to the porch for him. He got his blue babychair, sat at the table, and said "There!".

Then got up, ran in the house, and emerged, struggling carrying his storage table through the door (he's quite big and strong) so he could better access his tea cup. And when I put some crackers and cheese on a plate and brought it to the door (he hadn't eaten much supper) as "tea snacks" he approvingly ran to the table with it and offered around - "Tea snacks!!!".

It was a labile mood evening because he was contrary, and possibly a bit drunk after he ran off with an eighth of a beer. Tub time was all about : "Towel!!!!!! Wipe it" with a face water phobia when trying to hair wash. Sang Twinkle Little Star quite well while being towelled off. Jammies on, he bargained for "Wanna lie on the couch and watch capitter with a bottle". Then began goofing downstairs, up and out of bed a few times, finally I lay down with him but he was so intent on nursing that it became a battle royale of him imploring "Ammmmie, ammie now, other side please!!!!!" and getting quite pinchy.

When he finally wore down to a relaxed state after my firm refusal, and soothing tones and back patting- hard work- he ended up forgiving me. I decided to demonstrate how to fall asleep by pretending to be asleep and he looked in my face (I was peeking) , rolled towards me, put both arms around my neck, pulling close, and snugged in with my face under his soft skinned little chin. After a few minutes in this hug, he gestured me to put BOTH my arms around him, which I did. Then he fell asleep. Trapped in this unbelievably cute way, I fell asleep eventually too. Past my bedtime anyway.

Art is ephemeral

One swipe of a duck sponge, and a masterpiece can be lost forever. So, to preserve some works:

Man with Egg (c.2007, NJS Hehir)
This is a recognizable face (he listed "eyes, nose mouf" as he drew them) and I think an egg with spots. No idea why.

Abstract composition in yellow and blue #2, mixed media -tub,crayon,foam shape

Miami and Cruise

Katie is a darling little girl, and Nolan looks alarmingly large next to her

" Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. A crocodile in the swimming pool "

" Ta Daaaaaaaaaaaaa! Like my sunsuit? Favorite color is ORANGE!"

"Hey, can I look at the camera when you're done with it? Not sure, but I suspect I'm pretty good looking."

Photos - last fall, this summer

London, Ontario last fall, Ray and Mika's wedding. Nolan, attempting to be Spider Man - loves climbing and standing on things (like feet)
At "The Pines", Lake Huron, day trip w/ Uncle Conor, Uncle Paul and Auntie Asa
Nolan spends a lot of time with this concerned expression - he'll have frown lines like me by the time he's 10
Happiness is: a gaggle of adoring adults, sand, and a stick.
