Rock Star

Sometimes having a kid is like being a rock star- you come home and get an excited fan base of one running up and shouting "Mommy!!!!" in purest appreciation. Nolan tends to be quite directive- shoes "OFFF!!!" and coat- and any other extra layers, like a cardigan "Off! Off!"- like he's making sure I can't leave again. Then I feel a bit bad for leaving for work in the first place, but I think we do appreciate each other extra after a period of time away from each other.

This am Nolan awoke, came out to the stairs and called "Where are youuuuuuu?" plaintively -with his tousled hair and puffy eyes - til I came up the stairs, when he grabbed my hand, and marched me back to bed saying "Nigh night. Nigh night....", which is code for wanting to nurse back to sleep. Yep- gasp- he still nurses a bit and he's over 2yrs old. In bed, I told Mike that I feel sheepish about this, but Nolan derives so much comfort from it it's hard to stop cold. A friend just told me she has a few friends who still let their toddlers nurse, so I imagine this secretive, secret society of moms in isolation, afraid to talk about toddlers nursing for fear of being called "Late weaners" at the playground. "Late weaner" sounds both funny and insulting, you think?

Anyway, GTG do some work-

I prefer "lazy weaners" myself.

Elise kept on until ~20 months- at which point I just couldn't continue being greeted with "Mom! I wanna NURSE" every day.

Whatever works, I guess.

BTW- three new posts for me this weekend!
impressive, no?
